Vrgorac (the town of Dalmatian prosciutto and wine) is a lovely small town located at the slopes of Matokit mountain that hides rich cultural and gastronomic heritage. It is inextricably connected with Biokovo and its mountains, but also with remarkably beautiful fields.
The Gradina fortress is a medieval fortification towering above the town like a crown, while the old town core developed at its foot, the centre of the former settlement. Dalmatian stone houses give it a Mediterranean charm and today it is adorned with the Church of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the beginning of the 20th century as well as Ottoman towers dating back to the 16th century. The old town core thanks its special atmosphere to the Town Park, a park from the 19th century with a unique form of park architecture in Dalmatia.
